Who runs this independent Kawaguchiko travel guide, how it pays its way, and the things it will never claim.
This site is a travel guide to Kawaguchiko and the area around it. It’s for anyone planning a trip there, from a first day out of Tokyo to a slower weekend by the lake. It covers getting there, places to stay, food, things to do and ways to fit it all together, including how Kawaguchiko compares with Hakone.
Nobody in Kawaguchiko owns it
This guide isn’t owned or funded by a resort, a tour operator, a booking agent or a government body. No one in the area has a say in what it tells you.
There’s nothing for sale here, and you can’t book anything through the site. You get the information, and you decide where your money goes.
Who runs the guide
The guide is run by Adam Yong, founder of YS Feet. He’s based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and has travelled with his family, with young children, since 2013. YS Feet started as their family trip journal.
For this guide, Adam picks which places to cover based on what people really search for. He runs the system that keeps every fact together with its source. He also reviews every page before it goes live and again after launch.
Adam Yong visited Kawaguchiko with his wife and two children in February 2024. The facts in this guide don’t come from that trip: each one comes from a named source.

How the site pays its way
Some pages link to tours on Klook, Viator and GetYourGuide. These booking sites run affiliate programmes, so if you book through one of those links, the site may receive a commission. The price you pay stays the same.
That commission has no say in which tours, places to stay or places to eat appear on a page, or in what order. Nothing is dropped for paying less, and no business can pay to be listed or moved higher.

- Trip stories, apart from Adam Yong’s own dated notes, printed word for word as he approved them and never retold
- Reviews written by the site
- Ratings the site made up: any rating you see is quoted from Google Maps or the booking site, with the date it was read
- Paid placements of any kind
