Shore by shore
The closer you sleep to Kawaguchiko Station, the less you rely on shuttles and buses.
Funatsu, around the station, is the base for walking. Kawaguchiko Station Inn is in front of Kawaguchiko Station6, Yamagishi Ryokan is an 8-minute walk7 away on the shore, and Fuji Lake Hotel is on the shore of Lake Kawaguchiko8 in Funatsu as well.
Near SAWA Hotel, restaurants, a supermarket and convenience stores are all within a 5-minute walk9. For dinner ideas, see the Kawaguchiko food and drink guide.
The north shore is where the glamping is: Dot Glamping, TOCORO and Fujidome all have Oishi addresses, and Fujidome is 15 minutes from the station10. Dot Hostel & Bar is a 2-minute walk11 from the last stop of the Red Line loop bus.
On busy days Oishi Park gets very crowded at certain times of day12, so allow extra time on the roads. If you don’t have a car, private guided tours near Mount Fuji such as the Mt Fuji private nature tour start in Kawaguchiko.
Lake Saiko suits campers, and couples who want a private site. Saiko Camp Village Gnome is on the north shore of Lake Saiko13, with a day-use hot spring about 150 m14 away. dots by Dot Glamping Suite 001 has only two dome tents15, a 3-minute walk16 from the Nenba bus stop.
Fujiyoshida lies between Lakes Kawaguchi and Yamanaka4 and suits days at Fuji-Q Highland and Chureito Pagoda. Fujisan Station Hotel is a 2-minute walk from Fujisan Station17, and Fuji-Q Highland is 3 minutes18 away by train. From Mt. Fuji Hostel Michael’s, the pagoda is a 20-minute walk19.
Oshino is the village option, close to Oshino Hakkai. Masu no Ie, a 200-year-old thatched-roof house, is a 2-minute walk20 from the springs. Hakkai Konohanakan gives every room its own hot-spring bath but takes no children under 1021.
